Manetho refers to Horus and the remaining nine rulers of the First Dynasty as demigods. He further states that the gods of Olympus were originally human beings who ruled over the Greek people and the other nations of the Mediterranean and, in the course of time, were deified.
Apion the Grammarian, who wrote the History of Egypt, states that at the time when Anubis was the ruler of Egypt, Inachus was king of Argos.
As the reader will observe from the two articles that follow, the majority of the kings and rulers of Egypt, with very few exceptions, were Greeks or Egyptians of Greek descent. Their names, as happens in every country even today, were altered by the local inhabitants and adapted to the language of each people.
