“What do you wish to hear, to see, to learn, and to understand?” Hermes is asked by Poimandres.
And I answered him: “Who are you?”
“I am Poimandres, the Authentic Mind. I know your thoughts (what you wish to learn), and I will always be near you everywhere to help you.”
And I said to him: “I wish to learn about beings and their nature and to understand God.”
And I said again: “How much I desire to listen to you.”
And Poimandres continued:
“Think of everything you wish to learn, and I will teach you.”
Commentary
- The Greek nation has been abused to the utmost degree. Although it selflessly offered civilization to the world, many malicious and ill-intentioned people committed terrible genocides against it and spread the greatest falsehoods, claiming that civilization supposedly came from uncivilized and primitive peoples. They asserted this without supporting evidence, but arbitrarily.
- These falsehoods have been introduced into universities as theories and have now even been inserted into Artificial Intelligence, perpetuating deception and falsehood.
- For example, it is said that the Greeks have a history of only 3,500 years. However, the Orphic texts contradict this. Astronomical events brought to light by the distinguished astronomer Konstantinos Hassapis are calculated to have occurred in 11,835 BC. Some claim that there is no archaeological evidence; yet no testimony could be more valuable than this. At the time when the Orphic Hymns were written, no one would have intended to deceive future generations through such records. It should also be noted that the calculation became possible with the help of computers.
- The first people who spoke with God were the Greeks, and other peoples later imitated them. Yet the Greeks, who first “spoke with God” in imagination, considered it better to speak with their own conscience, and thus they created the most humanistic civilization in the world. However, humanity remained savage up to the present and embraced this civilization mainly in its technological dimension. The results are visible daily on our screens and in society.
- If the Egyptians had produced the first civilization, there would have been Egyptian sages, poets, urban planners, and others. Yet their ancient cities bear Greek names, their gods were those of Olympus, and their ancient religion was that of Hermes Trismegistus. Because of the dry climate and the preservation of archives within the pyramids after the flood, the keepers of ancient papyri were found there. In Greece these were destroyed during the three Floods mentioned in Greek prehistory.
- How could the Egyptians and other peoples spread civilization throughout the world when they possessed no ships and undertook no cultural expeditions like the Greeks? The Phoenicians (an ancient Greek tribe from Epirus later assimilated with Semites) were merchants, later than the Greeks, and did not develop a civilization. Even as sailors they followed the Greeks like a hound follows a hunter.
- The present false cultural structure, built upon lies, has at times collapsed and then recovered through the mobilization of the Greek spirit. Today it is obvious that the world is moving toward decay, dissolution, and chaos—particularly dangerous because humanity possesses nuclear power and technological weapons capable of cosmic destruction but lacks the spiritual organization to bring order to life and advance civilization.
- In ancient Indian philosophy and mythology, the term Asura literally means “powerful spirit” or “being with vital force” (asu = breath / vital energy). Such were the initiates and sages of antiquity.
- Today the world, although technologically advanced, has become more savage in its morals. There are still theocratic regimes exploiting religion to keep humanity subjugated and terrified, exporting terrorism. At the same time there are liberal states that violate international law, treaties, and truces, pushing aside Nemesis and turning justice back to the era of vengeance and the Furies. In ancient times Zeus had to impose order and law and eliminate robbers, criminals, and wrongdoers. Now even the institution of the United Nations, reason, and international law have been rendered ineffective and replaced by violence. Thus the world, guided by Artificial Intelligence, has begun a new course toward a new Cosmogony.
