THE TIME OF DIVISION WAS BITTER

 Written by Konstantinos Konstantinidis Amphiktyon

The War ended and Greece expected to be rewarded for its heroic struggles and for the blood it shed on all fronts (Albania, Crete, the Middle East, in the Mountains and in the Atlantic). But as happened at the end of the First World War when the Greeks experienced the most bitter betrayal from their then allies and instead of the reward the most glorious army of the entire world at that time suffered defeat, and Greece accepted as refugees all the populations of Asia Minor and they were persecuted by the Turks, allies of the Germans, after the destruction of our army in Asia Minor with the cooperation of our allies Similar behavior was reserved for us after the Second World War by Britain, America and the Soviet Union. The then Prime Minister of Greece G. Papandreou had only vague information about the armistice they were preparing with Bulgaria behind Greece’s back. On 20 Aug. 1944 when he met British Prime Minister Churchill in Naples, he “drawed his attention not to ignore Greek rights for the acquisition of strong borders with Bulgaria, which repeatedly invaded Greek territory with the collaboration of Germany” However, British officials (McVee, Lepper and Lord Moon) with Churchill’s blessings conducted conspiratorial negotiations with Musanov, ignoring the Greek Government in Cairo. This plan did not impose any sanctions on Bulgaria, there was no mention of a border settlement with Greece, nor compensation for the 45,000 Greeks who were massacred by the Bulgarian troops and the property they destroyed and seized while fleeing. They simply invited the Greek Government to take note as an observer. In a similar way, when the Soviet Government took Bulgaria, which had declared an armistice and conversion, under its wing, it completely ignored the interested Greece, with the consent of Britain and America. They gave a pardon to Bulgaria and a slap in the face to Greece, which had always been on the side of the victors. This was not the only injustice against Greece. Northern Epirus, with the blessings of the allies, remained in the hands of Albania despite Greek protests and its occupation three times by the Greek Army. Britain, with the consent of America and the Soviet Union, had made a “Declaration of Albanian Independence” in December 1942, without mentioning anything about Northern Epirus. We are not finished yet. Our good “allies” the British implicated Turkey in the Cyprus problem and no one knows where this problem will end. A Greek island with an 18% Turkish minority and now in danger of becoming Turkish with the blessings of our allies (British, American) and the UN but also the unacknowledged stupidities and betrayals of Greek politicians And what is even worse is that when the Germans left, they left us with a civil war that the powerful at the time exploited for their own benefit. Everyone shared the clothes of the bloody and ruined Greece and as these instruments played to us, we cretins killed each other because of “ideology” and we Greeks were divided Unfortunately, we did not make a trace of self-criticism and we still have the skeletons and the remains and the offspring of those times in parliament, so that they continue the division. Maintaining the KKE that has harmed the country so much is madness. Having parties that hate the homeland and are hostile to its values is schizophrenia. The next thing we expect from our incompetent politicians is the sharing of the Aegean that may have been agreed upon and they do not announce it to us. The fate of this mythical country that everyone admires but the ungrateful Turks, British, Russians, Americans and Germans, each generation leads to their modern “Minotaur” and decimates it in every way. But Hellenism like the Phoenix rises, shines and the future marks (28/7/25)
