DOES TECHNOLOGY FREE US OR ENSLAVE US? Writes Konstantinos Konstantinidis of Amphiktyon The astonishing progress of Technology imposed tyranny on its creator. Man did not imagine that the first tools he built to increase his physical and mental abilities would one day enslave him. They were the extensions of his sensory organs and limbs, his hands and feet, the first tools. To meet his needs for food, help and security, he domesticated animals, later he invented the wheel and built carriages. He built weapons to deal with his enemies and find his food, ships to sail the seas, etc. But these servants, over time, moved away from man’s control, changed hands and now threaten him. The simplest example. If you cross a road that has no passage, you are a trespasser, you pay a fine, and you can even lose your life. If you ask any worker today, he will tell you that he is exhausted, something from the workload, something from the movement to and from the place of work, from the unpleasant news that bombards him, from the increases that plague him and from the obligations-deadlines that pressure him, etc. Thus our body wears out prematurely from brutal work, our soul is oppressed and tormented, our health is shaken by complex chemical foods, our organs atrophy from the modern way of life, and people even before they reach old age have acquired problems, or have suffered from dementia. Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s. Then polypharmacy begins. A large percentage will certainly now die of some form of cancer from a young age. I will not mention the two archangels who are lurking to destroy our planet: 1/ nuclear weapons b/ the chemical residues that man throws, on the earth, in the seas, in the underground and even in space. If it is not eradicated from these causes, it will have suffered physical disabilities on a scale that man has never known before. Along with all the evils, it is also deprived of the joy of life that we of previous generations enjoyed. And all this before Artificial Intelligence (AI) enters our lives, which threatens to become dominant in the human race, even to challenge it. Then man will have completely lost his personality and will become a slave. They once said that machines would free man, providing him with more time for freedom and rest and of course they will make living more comfortable. But from time to time the pace of life becomes faster, rougher, more exhausting, more exhausting and working conditions become inhuman. This phenomenon is becoming more intense not only in the upper and top executives of companies who are paid with large salaries and bonuses but also in other workers with starvation salaries. Man works day and night to supposedly make his life more comfortable, but in reality he sacrifices himself on the altar of a society without logic, without philosophy, without humanity, without ethics, for the acquisition of more money, abundant material goods, in the hunt for a better life that turns out to be a chimera. And when premature old age and illness come, then you realize that you spent your best years in prison and were rewarded with heart disease, cancer, neuropathy, loss of vision, hearing, mobility problems, disabilities, etc. The phenomenon is now intensifying with the fierce East-West competition. The pace of life has become outrageous and strange things are happening because Western leaders are trying to adapt people to Chinese standards in order to compete with them. The Soviet system did the same. To adapt the citizen to the system and not the system to the citizen, resulting in its dissolution. Is the same fate awaiting the West now? The Man-Machine competition is ambivalent. The dilemma remains: Will we live free or slaves? At this point, only the Greek Spirit can free people. It is a good thing that the Chinese have incorporated Classical Education into their universities, unlike the West, which stopped it in favor of the nihilistic, unnatural and stupid “woke” subculture (16/3/25)
