WHO BLAMES US? Written by Konstantinos Konstantinidis of Amphiktyon For everything that goes wrong and wrong in our country, bad foreigners are usually blamed. We are not the only ones to blame. Not those foreigners are good. Quite the opposite. Everyone takes care of – and does well – for their own interests. I wish we could imitate them too. Poverty falls into two categories: a/ Those who suffer from their own minds and b/ Those who suffer because of their luck. And the poverty that is due to luck can be cured by someone with their own work, with self-sufficiency, or with help from their fellow human beings. The other category, which falls from their own minds, cannot be cured by anyone. They constantly wander around begging for crumbs, while the others neither ask for crumbs nor a bite. They fall and get up again and continue This has been happening for centuries in our country. While we are the richest state with abundant wealth: Agriculture, fishing, solar energy – hydrocarbon lakes, geothermal energy, mountains for livestock, mineral wealth, even rare earths, we still have the most agile and inventive minds and a thriving diaspora Greek community, we are the poorest in Europe. Despite all this, foreigners who wrong us, exploit us, owe us money, etc. are constantly to blame. There are also many who believe that our politicians are also to blame, who savagely exploit us in collaboration with foreigners for their own benefit. We will not deal with the followers and the “herd” that bleats because they have no brains. But the others who see the cause of our evil why don’t they all dare to change the peculiar incompetent “mafia” that has ruled us for centuries? While they see that each government copies the previous one and nothing in the country changes. Even Turkey has become beasts of burden for the sake of their family interests. While Turkey has made huge leaps in 20 years with good leadership, we are indebted, afraid and last, beggars in the EU with our hand outstretched. When will we finally use our minds (common sense) to change those who rule us with patriots? (10/1/25)
