THE WAR HAS GONE WRONG Written by Konstantinos Konstantinidis Amphiktyon Two active war fronts and a third in recession are creating concern in public opinion. Particularly on the Ukrainian front, the war is constantly escalating and a ceasefire or its end is not visible on the horizon. US President Mr. Trump has made tireless efforts – if they are honest – to end the war and continues to this day without the two parties finding common ground for dialogue. The second round of dialogue has been scheduled in Istanbul between the two parties Both parties are stuck in their positions. Zelensky in the successive lines of his forces’ retreat and in his terrorist actions deep in Russia and Putin in his advancing, albeit drip-feed, forces which are gaining ground. So far, he has occupied 20% of Ukraine, in the southeastern regions which have great strategic, economic and geopolitical value. In his desperation, President Zelensky is making internal Russian attacks which, if they increase in destructiveness, pose the greatest risk of a nuclear strike on Ukraine. Mr. Zelensky’s goal is to escalate and internationalize the war at all costs, but Mr. Putin is also prolonging the war not so much to gain more territory on the battlefield as to secure written guarantees from the West. The brainless European leaders, instead of taking the lead in immediately ending the war, are playing it like the so-called “free guys” and with their actions they are escalating it. While they know that without America it is not possible to save Ukraine and whatever the EU offers it falls into the black hole, without effect. The theorist of War Carl Von Clausewitz had written that a war can be started either by intention, by mistake or by inability to stop it. However, our generals tell us in one word that the war for Ukraine has been lost and must be stopped, because the cost in losses has become unbearable for both parties. In the Cuban missile crisis, in addition to the then responsible leaders Kennedy and Khrushchev, public opinion was mobilized and prevented nuclear war. On the contrary, today public opinion is complacent because it has believed that even a nuclear incident will not completely harm humanity but only partially (2/6/25)
