Is the world moving forward<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and the arrow does not go back?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Is the fact that it has not yet rebelled<\/p>\n\n\n\n
despite the ominous indications,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
the most auspicious proof?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite the destruction of the environment,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
the excessive heat wave,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
the economic hardship,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
social automation,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
wars and suspicion,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
hunger and unemployment,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
the unequal distribution of wealth<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and our wounded democracy,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
the world continues to hope<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Is it possible that man can ultimately endure more<\/p>\n\n\n\n
than we think?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Is there no turning back on this path,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
even if it leads some to ruin?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Is there no other path,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
because in our time technology prevails?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Is it our fault, the old ones,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
who are fogging the glass?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We lived in another century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We did not have time to understand<\/p>\n\n\n\n
even the recent modernization of the Parthenon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Incompatible with this life,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
we still miss<\/p>\n\n\n\n
the slop and the tsarouchi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And yet, the problems exist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
No era has lived without them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We do not live in societies of angels,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
nor in worlds of galactic stars<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The human race has gone through<\/p>\n\n\n\n
much more difficult trials<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And more critical times<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and emerged victorious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Perhaps it will succeed now too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But perhaps this time<\/p>\n\n\n\n
it is preparing to change form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Or does life continue on its path,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
leaving behind those who cannot follow?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Time moves on,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
passes us<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and ages us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Only those who have learned to struggle endure to the end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But history teaches us<\/p>\n\n\n\n
that the opposite also happens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over time,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
unexpected changes<\/p>\n\n\n\n
overturn certainties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Necessity even convinces the gods.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And when human arrogance<\/p>\n\n\n\n
exceeds limits,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
when it provokes Hybris,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ati inevitably comes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then societies rise,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
balances are restored<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and every unholy work<\/p>\n\n\n\n
meets its end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But perhaps this time<\/p>\n\n\n\n
he is preparing to change form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the humanoid he will replace him,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
resilient like the sparrow,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
in any environment he will survive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the Arctic he will not freeze,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
on Earth he will create miracles like a deliverer<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and in Space he will carry out experiments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He will not complain about overheating,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
nor about food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He will not ask for water or oxygen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He will not establish unions,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
nor will he claim rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He will be obedient<\/p>\n\n\n\n
like a disciplined soldier,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
to the orders of his creator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And if Hubris becomes the law of men,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nemesis is never late.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
History changes faces,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
